GKSS Agro Enterprise Ltd. was established in July 2010 Gabtali upzila in Bogura District. Though Bangladesh is depending country of agriculture but the small and marginal farmers are especially so many problems in their field. Most of the problems are soil fertility and low productivity. Crop diversity and intensity are increasing day by day and farmers mainly depend on chemical fertilizers to cultivate their land. Generally to maintain of the soil fertility 5% organic materials is essential. But soil in Bangladesh have an average of 0.87% organic matter. GKSS Agro Enterprise Limited objectives is to extend environment friendly three types of organic fertilizer like i) GKSS Vermi-Compost ii) GKSS Tricho-Compost iii) GKSS Tricho-Power. GKSS Agro Enterprise Ltd. united the farmers, create the awareness on different socio-economic issues, established agriculture research and undertaken some agro based activities, side by side, it has also formed a numbers of groups were the marginal agro farmers and poor/ hardcore poor people are united & struggling to uplift their life style.

Type of GKSS Organic Fertilizer:
After researching and laboratory test, GKSS Agro Enterprise Ltd. company is producing three types of organic fertilizer in their own factory by the affiliation of Agriculture department Bangladesh Government. The valuable organic fertilizer are-

1.  GKSS Vermi-Compost:
Vermi compost is the final product of composting organic material using worms (Eisenia Fetida) to create a homogenized blend of decomposed cow dung, vegetable and food waste, bedding materials and manure. Vermi compost, similarly known as worm castings or worm manure, enriches the soil and can be used as a high grade natural, organic fertilizer. The most important aspect of compost produced by earthworms is that it is 100% organic. There are no harmful chemicals and it does not need to be mixed with anything.

Our goal is to provide quality customer service, consistent products at reasonable rates. We produce qualitative 100% organic fertilizer called Vermi compost manure which is primarily composed of three main elements: Nitrogen(N), Phosphorus(P), and Potassium(K), each of these being essential in plant nutrition. Nitrogen helps plants grow quickly, while also increasing the production of seed and fruit, and bettering the quality of leaf and forage crops. Nitrogen is a component containing chlorophyll that gives plants their green colour and also aids in photosynthesis. Phosphorus supports the formation of oils, sugars, and starches. The transformation of solar energy into chemical energy is also supported by phosphorus, as well as is development of the plant, and the ability to survive plant growth. Additionally, phosphorus encourages the growth of roots, and promotes. Potassium gives an essential nutrient to plants, helps in photosynthesis, the building of protein, and the reduction of disease.

This fertilizer has macro nutrients called as secondary nutrients contain calcium (Ca), magnesium(Mg), and sulphur(S) and the micronutrients are boron (B), copper (Cu), iron (Fe), chloride (Cl), manganese(Mn), molybdenum(Mo) and zinc(Zn), these nutrients assist to increase the plant growth.

Benefits/Advantages of GKSS Vermi-Compost:
Vermi compost is an eco-friendly natural fertilizer prepared form bio-degradable organic wastes and is free from chemical inputs. So many common advantages of the Vermi Compost are as follows:

1. All degradable waste converted into economically useful agricultural input.
2. N, P, K % is more than the normal heap manure.
3. N-Nitrogen, P-Phosporus, K-Pottash which are the macro nutrition for the plant.
4. Soil texture and aeration improves.
5. Soil remains loose compared to chemical fertilizers, this improves water holding capacity, hence more useful in dry farming, it also helps in easy root extension/spreading.

GKSS produces the Vermi-Compost fertilizers using earthworm named Eisenia fetida is a special kind of earthworms native Thailand. The company has been using 100% pure cow dung as raw material since starting first.

1. GKSS Tricho-Compost:

 

Tricho-derma is a genus of fungi, which has ability of decomposing organic materials and also has capacity of controlling some plant and crop diseases. So compost prepared with the help of tricho-derma species will have some additional economic value. Tricho–derma spore suspension is composting of organic matter was found to be active and quick decomposer, and bad smell reducer during composting of organic matter. This is a new approach start of using resident microbes-tricho-derma spore suspension as Effective Microorganisms-EM in Bangladesh.

 

Advantage of Tricho-Compost:

• Yield increased by about 15-35% in different vegetable, tuber and fruit crops due to application of tricho-compost.
• Plant mortality was reduced, disease incidence specially wilting of plants were minimum or rare in Tricho-compost treated field.
• Tricho-Compost 30-36%of root-knot nematode infestation.
• Tricho –compost application reduced leaf spot disease.
• Tricho-Compost reduced 80-90% bacterial wilt in any other vegetable & fruit plant.
• Common scab of potato caused by streptomycin scabies infestation was reduced by about 46% due to Tricho-compost
• Compost infused with spore suspension of Tricho-derma was recorded as a plant growth enhancer.

 

Application Method of Tricho-Compost:

Any type of crops, vegetables, and fruit’s cultivation field/garden used in 2/3 kgs Tricho- compost per decimal and after day soil mixing and must be watering.
